Concrete, fill, sheet coverage, paint and lumber quantities. Enter your own allowances, density, bag yield or coverage. Whole sheets and paint containers round upward.
Add material results, enter unit prices in USD and allow for other costs and contingency. Save up to 200 lines. Unpriced items are clearly marked so incomplete totals stay visible.
Export an estimate as CSV. Back up and restore projects with JSON files. Print or save an estimate as PDF through your browser’s print dialog. Inputs stay in your browser.
The paid product is a local HTML file that requires a browser with JavaScript enabled. Some mobile file viewers, including iPhone/iPad Files preview, do not run local HTML. Use the free online demo to try slab calculations and unit conversion on your device. No subscription or installation is required for the desktop download.
A ZIP with the complete self-contained calculator HTML and START-HERE instructions covering operation, rounding, assumptions, reference definitions and the license. The calculator works offline after download; project inputs are not sent to Steel & Grit.
The public demo includes the slab calculator and unit converter. The paid download includes all nine tools, project estimates, editable prices, local saving, CSV export, project backups and printing.
Uniform slab and cylindrical volumes; rectangular fill volume and mass from your density; area-based sheet/pack counts; rectangular-room paint with optional ceiling; board-foot volume; rectangle diagonals; slope and pitch geometry; unit conversions. It does not optimize cut layouts or determine structural capacity and code compliance. Check specifications and approved drawings before ordering.
Enter supplier prices, material density, paint coverage and extra allowances for your job. Initial values are editable examples. Labor, equipment, delivery and taxes are not automatically included; add those charges under Other costs when needed. Contingency applies to priced material lines plus Other costs.
The full calculator tries to save in your browser. Local storage may be unavailable for local files or private browsing, and clearing browser data can erase it. Export a JSON project file for a separate backup before closing important estimates. CSV exports are for sharing and spreadsheets; use JSON to restore a project in the calculator.
The calculation engine passed 85 automated checks covering all nine tools, US and metric units, fractions, conversion factors, quantity rounding, invalid inputs and estimate totals. Browser interaction and mobile local-file compatibility have not been independently verified. Try the free demo before purchasing.
One purchase covers internal use by one business and its employees/project teams, including on their devices. Completed estimates may be shared with customers. Reselling, redistributing or publicly hosting the calculator files is not included.
